Having recorded the highly acclaimed album 'Sophies Dance' (Feb 1993) - a compilation of original and traditional tunes - Barry embarked on a semi-professional career that has, so far, included many bookings at folk clubs in Northern England and the Midlands including:- Buckingham,Leeds,Bradford,Huddersfield,Ashton under Lyme, Loughborough,Chesterfield,Sheffield and Wakefield.

A talented all rounder who sings and plays guitar, flute and tin whistles, Barry successfully delivers an evening of highly singable chorus songs (originals and traditional), interspersed with celtic-style tunes.

'Sophies Dance' has now been played thrice on BBC Radio's 'Henry Ayrton's Folk and Grass Roots Show'. Magazine reviewers have remarked on Barry's vocal ability with descriptions such as 'relaxed', 'confident', 'natural and assured' etc. The appealing quality of his songs has attracted the attentions of many other artists. 'Are My Tears Too Late' having been recorded by Sharon Fountain.

Over the past two years, he has developed into a serious songwriter, producing melodic and evocative material for popular appeal. His 'Sophies Dance' song cycle was performed by Calder Valley Community Choir in Halifax and is available for choirs and other singing groups to do. Most of the tracks from 'Sophies Dance' feature on the CD 'Gently Through The Valley' (FINNBARR0113)
