Outside the factory - Mrs Blabb and Mrs Blebb enjoy their daily gossip. Enter Sophies mum, Mrs Emsley. Discuss Sophies accident, recovery and the origin of her name.

Outside the factory 10 years later - Mrs Blabb and Mrs Blebb enjoy their daily gossip. Enter Sophies mum. Discuss working conditions etc.

ACT 3
Lunchtime. Mrs Blabb and Mrs Blebb watch Sophie run up the hill to meet Jimmy. Discuss likely narriage, suitability of families etc.

ACT4
Sophie lament. Her love affair seems to be failing as Jimmy seems to be losing interest.

Song 'Are my Tears too Late'

ACT 5
Sophie and friend, Deirdre, discuss the broken engagement and Jimmy's liaison with Linda. Sophie daydreams about escaping to some timeless paradise beyond the bounds of care.

Song 'Far Away from Here'

ACT 6
Sophie leaves for London - meets Mrs Blabb and Mrs Blebb on the way t'station. They discuss the 'flat' and job which a distant relative has arranged for her.

Song 'The clody Hills of Yorkshire'

ACT 7
Sophie laments about her unhappy life in a London bedsit. Enter Genghis the magic cat. He listens to her woes and then foresees a happy future for Jimmy and herself. Sophie resolves to return home to be reunited with her childhood sweetheart.

Song 'Sweet falls the Northern Rain'

ACT 8
The wedding reception - all the cast toast the bride and groom who prepare to live happily ever after and all sing.

Song 'Day after Day'
